Ecuadornews:

Between 60 and 90 days will take the review of five “emblematic” projects of the past Government. From there several legal and administrative actions can be taken.

Audits of the Monteverde, Pascuales Cuenca and Palo Alto oil projects, and the Esmeraldas and Manabí refineries will be ready by the end of the year. The review, which was born out of cooperation between the National Government and the United Nations (UN), will be crystallized by four specialized companies from the United States, Great Britain and Spain.

Although the authorities of the Government did not give the names of the companies, nor the state of the investigations, they advanced that they will analyze the use of $ 5,042 million, value of the five oil projects.

Juan Sebastián Roldán, private secretary of President Lenín Moreno, at a press conference, explained the methodology of the technical review. First, local costs will be analyzed against international ones.

In addition, the technical characteristics of the works and their corrective actions will be evaluated, if necessary. The idea according to Roldán is to verify if they have overpricing or signs of corruption. From there, he warned, legal actions or administrative sanctions will be derived.

He recalled that of the five projects, four are underway, because the Esmeraldas Refinery did not have an offer that would allow it to be hired. He affirmed that the maximum in two weeks will be resubmitted.

At the meeting on Tuesday, October 2, the Economy Minister, Richard Martinez, highlighted the achievements obtained with the subsidy reduction of super gasoline. He clarified that throughout the year the State will save between $ 90 million and $ 100 million.

As for the Budget Proforma of 2019, indicated that it will be delivered to the Assembly the first week of November. (I)
