Biomechanics in Ecuadorian sports
From this week, the Center for High Performance (CEAR for its Spanish acronym), in Duran, implemented a new technology for research in sports medicine and applied sciences.
This is a laboratory of biomechanics and motion analysis equipped with instruments of the Steinbichler Austria GmbH company that are already installed in the CEAR, where -after training- athletes will undergo a series of studies and research.
This equipment, that operate with a wireless system, athletes can undergo a three-dimensional motion evaluation and measurement of their body posture; measuring of the center of gravity and the reaction force associated with the athlete´s interaction with the ground; evaluation of pressure for shoe design and adjustments in patients with prostheses; evaluation of sporting gestures, and other functions such as measuring of the axis, speed and distance.
