Bomb attack in Boston Marathon leaves three dead and 28 injured
In the 117th edition of the oldest marathon in the world, the Boston Marathon, a bomb attack occurred, right at the finish line, leaving three people dead and another 28 injured.
The explosions occurred around 14:45 near the intersection of Boylston and Exeter streets. Some witnesses have confirmed that several injured have lost limbs as a result of the explosion. Police have evacuated the area and are currently looking for potential new artifacts in the area.
U.S. President Barack Obama has ordered federal support for the investigation of the bomb attack in Boston. Boston’s airspace has also been closed.
It is known that eight Ecuadorians participated in the competition: M. Coro, I. Gallegos, Gonzalo Garcia, L. Giler, Carlota Lozada, J. Mejia, Franklin Tenorio and G. Vivanco. Ecuadorian Ambassador in the U.S., Nathalie Cely, confirmed that the athletes are out of danger.
