Bonil wins a new international caricature award in Belgium

This recognition is due to one of his caricatures entitled “The madness of the selfie culture,” which according to Bonil, “demonstrates in a macabre, but at the same time graceful way, a critical view of the lack of empathy today that is only hunting for likes.”

The festival also gives a bonus of 5,000 euros, with which the cartoonist joked saying: “I will see if I can buy a little hut in Belgium with this.”

The award ceremony will take place on Wednesday 28 June during the opening of the cartoon festival.

Bonil, a columnist for Daily EL UNIVERSO, won this recognition in a competition against 500 participants from 60 countries around the world, who sent 1.754 drawings.

The jury was chaired by Chris Dusauchoit, Fleur Van Groningen, Inge Heremans (Ilah), Tanja Vrancken and Katrien De Vreese of Davidsfonds.
