The dream of every climber is to reach the highest point on Earth. Carla Perez hopes to make it happen: to reach the top of the Everest, 8,848 meters high.
Perez, age 33, wants to be the first Latin American to reach the summit without supplemental oxygen.
So far, Paulina Aulestia is the only Ecuadorian who has conquered Everest. She did it in 2013, but with the help of oxygen.
For Perez will be the second attempt. Three years ago she fell 200 meters from the summit.
“The fingers began to freeze. My equipment was very big and I had to remove gloves to manipulate it. The weather was very ugly, very windy, and with pain in my soul, I had to turn around” she told Daily Expreso. (I)
