Silvia Salgado gives COFIEC report

Yesterday, the Prosecutor Commission of the Assembly gave a draft of the investigation made for more than a year about the credit of $ 800 thousand given by COFIEC bank to the Argentinean Gaston Duzac. The document showed serious deficiencies in the administrative process to deliver it.

The investigation carried out by Silvia Salgado, president of the Commission, did not determined the participation of public officials. While the Assemblymen of the opposition Thomas Zevallos (IND), and Abdala Bucaram Pulley (PRE) qualified the report of Salgado as a “mockery”, because it does no establishes any political responsibility.

The opposition agree that the document “protects” Pedro Delgado, cousin of the Ecuadorian president Rafael Correa, and president of the Management Unit of the Public Right of the Trust AGD-CFN No more Impunity (Ugedep for its Spanish acronym), who according to their opinion is the main responsible of the poor administration of COFIEC. Among the conclusions of the report it shows “the negligence” of the board and the officials that approved the loan to Duzac.

The document mentions Delgado as the contact of Duzac with the executive president of COFIEC, Antonio Bunay, but that does not means that the latter is exempt of their obligations and it didn’t exempted the officials of the bank to follow the rules. AV
