Catholic world has new pope
At 18h06 (13h06 in Ecuador), the chimney of the Sistine Chapel threw white smoke and the audience gathered around the Vatican, as well as all the world’s Catholics, cheered and applaused, knowing that the assembled cardinals with conclave, have elected a successor for resigning Pope Benedict XVI.

The Conclave gathered prior to the election of the Pope.
After 13 days of withdrawal of Benedict XVI, in less than 24 hours and after five ballots, the cardinals gathered in the Sistine Chapel secretly had given their votes to elect the vicar of Christ on earth. And as it was known, a thick and nurtured white smoke came out from the chimney and the bells of the churches of Rome, especially that of St. Peter, began to ring, causing untold excitement among the present.
As this note, the expectation is focused on the announcement to be held to find out who the Cardinals, which country, which continent, was chosen to lead the Catholic Church, a congregation totaling 1,200 million across earth.
