CELAC and ECLAC plan a regional development strategy
The Economic Commission for Latin America (ECLAC) and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC for its Spanish acronym) held a meeting yesterday in Quito in order to plan a regional development strategy for the next five years.
Alicia Barcenas, Executive Secretary of ECLAC, together with the Chancellor of Ecuador, Ricardo Patiño, said that the purpose of the meeting was “to structure a support strategy” on poverty and inequality, climate change and environment, funding for development, science and technology, and infrastructure in the region.
The points discussed constitute a proposal for Ecuador under the Pro tempore Presidency of the Community.
The officials said that the meeting was to set a baseline from which it is expected to plan the regional development.
