Celebration with “new year´s eve puppets” leaves two lawyers behind bars in Babahoyo

For alleged scandal infringements in public spaces and insults to a person, after the exhibition of three puppets, lawyers Javier E. and Luis M. remain detained. On December 31 they were arrested in downtown Babahoyo while celebrating the New Year with their colleagues.
Miguel Flores, a witness, said that the professionals were arrested for displaying three puppets: two donkeys and another that resembled the president of the Judicial Council of Los Rios, Diego Camacho.
Yesterday, the defense of the arrested, Luis Leon, was preparing the documents to appeal the sentence of 35 days in prison his defendants face.
He reported that they were applied an “accumulation of violations,” according to him, a figure that does not exist in the law, and that was why they received 30 days for the alleged offense and 5 for the alleged scandal in public places.
