Chaos in Syria Escalates After Village Massacre
Syrian opposition stated that government forces struck a village in the province of Hama on Thursday, slaughtering over 200 people. Meanwhile the Syria State TV blames the massacre on “terrorists”.
According to a statement given to Reuters by the so-called Revolution Leadership Council of Hama, government forces attacked violently the village of Tremseh. Activists informed that more than150 bodies were piled up in the local mosque, reports stated that the local school was also destroyed.
Meanwhile Syrian rebels are smuggling light arms into Syria through a network of land and sea routes. Western and regional powers are denying any involvement in gun running.
Today several demonstrators in Syria asked the retreat of the international envoy Kofi Annan. This decision came after hundreds of deaths were blamed to bombings by the government forces. (AV)
