Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, prayed to God to give him life to end his Government work after completing a Thanksgiving Mass for his health held yesterday in his home state of Barinas, Venezuela.

“Give me life, even flaming life, painful life, I do not care, give me your crown Christ, give it to me so I bleed it. Give me your cross, 100 crosses, I will take all of them, but give me life because I still have things to do for this people”, were the prayers of the 57 year old President, who arrived around midnight of last Wednesday to Barinas State, after completing his second radiotherapy cycle in Cuba.

“It has not been easy what I have been through,” Chavez said in a speech given at the end of the homily that state television broadcast.

Chavez admitted that he almost burst into tears in the midst of the liturgical act, after receiving a caress from his parents, who accompanied him at the Mass with other relatives and friends.

“I could not help a few tears when I felt the loving hand of my mother while my father’s hand. God, it has been many years since I did not feel those two hands at once!,” he said.
