China lifted suspension on the export of Ecuadorian shrimp
The Ministry of Production, Foreign Trade, Investment and Fisheries confirmed this Thursday, June 6, 2024, that China lifted the suspension of nine establishments for the export of shrimp.

Shrimp is Ecuador’s main export product to China.
The General Customs Authority of the People’s Republic of China (GACC) had sanctioned nine exporting companies between February and March of this year, after the alleged detection of a preservative.
The local industry corrected the problem, which will allow a repowering of the product in the flow of exports. The State portfolio indicated that China is one of Ecuador’s main trading partners and a large part of the country’s marine products are destined for this market.
In fact, Ecuadorian shrimp is the most exported product to China and – with the Trade Agreement in force – an increase in the trade balance is expected.
According to figures from the Central Bank of Ecuador, exports to the main market in Asia represented USD 5,292 million in 2023, with products such as shrimp, bananas, fish meal, and mining products.
