Cirque du Soleil acrobat dies in the middle of her performance

31 year-old Cirque du Soleil acrobat Sarah Guyard-Guillot, died last Saturday June 29 after falling during an aerobatic show “Ka” at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
The French-born artist, known as ‘Sassoon’, fell 50 feet while doing stunts in the air suspended by a wire after let loose of her security cable. ‘Sassoon’ fell into a hole out of the sight of the audience in front of the stage.
“I am heartbroken. I wish to extend my sincere sympathies to the family. We are all completely devastated with this news. Sassoon was an artist of the original cast of KÀ since 2006 and has been an integral part of our Cirque du Soleil tight family. We are reminded, with great humility and respect, how extraordinary our artists are each and every night,” said Guy Laliberté, founder of Cirque du Soleil.
An official statement said that the “Ka shows will be suspended until further notice”. This is the first fatal accident reported in Cirque du Soleil since its inception 30 years ago.
