Claudia Schiess is The New Miss Ecuador

Candidate Claudia Elena Schiess Fretz, from the Galapagos islands, received the 2011 Miss Ecuador crown last night in Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas.

The new sovereign is 21 years old, she grew up in Santa Cruz Island, her mother is Swiss and his father is Ecuadorian. She is currently a professional makeup artist and she attends Universidad del Pacífico to finish her studies in commercial engineering. Schiess also won as Yanbal Face, Miss Sedal and Miss Agua Cielo.

The group of finalists was integrated by Maria Veronica Vargas, Miss Ecuador Mundo, Maria Fernanda Cornejo, Miss Ecuador International and Olga Álava and Leslie Ayala, third and fourth runner-up respectively.

“I’d love to do social work, working with education, health, environment, and tourism,” said Schiess.
