Claudio Borghi is not Chile’s coach any more
Posted On 15 Nov 2012
Claudio Borghi, coach of the Chilean soccer team, was fired Wednesday from his post, after loosing the last five games. The last one was a friendly game against Serbia in Switzerland with a score of 3-1.
“They asked me to step aside, that means getting fired. I never quit,” said Borghi in a press conference.
The dismissal was a result of five defeats in a row, three within World Cup qualifying matches for Brazil 2014 against Colombia, Ecuador and Argentina, and two friendly matches against Ecuador and Serbia.
Borghi took over the Chilean team in February 2011 after the resignation of his compatriot Marcelo Bielsa.
