CNC Distributes Budget for 2012 and Beyond
Yesterday, the Council of National Competitions (CNC) decided that starting next year, the municipalities of Quito, Guayaquil and Cuenca, should be operational in the management of traffic skills.
However, since today, the municipalities will start to handle progressively, the planning, traffic regulation and control in their jurisdictions.
The Council also granted the towns of Ibarra, Ambato, Loja and Manta a period of two years for the same purpose.
The decentralization project in transit, road transportation and road safety has a budget of $ 182 million, of which $ 112 million are from the enrollment rate in 2011, 50 million are for the category of investments and the remaining 20 come from the collections by traffic fines. According Fander Falconi, president of the Council of Nationa Competitions, these funds will be distributed equally among the municipalities.
The resolution of the Council states that from 2015, all municipalities will be handling all the responsibilities for transit.
