CNE will commence with the reviewing of 780,000 signatures of YASunidos
Throughout this week the National Electoral Council (CNE for its Spanish acronym), is expected to begin the second stage of verification of signatures delivered by the YASunidos group, which aims to promote a referendum to decide the future of extraction activity in the Yasuni National Park.
With 97,817 validated forms in the first stage, the confirmation of ID numbers and graphology review of some 780,000 signatures, begin.
The verification process is performed by comparing information with that from databases of the electoral roll, the Banco Nacional de Fomento, Banco Pacifico and the Chancery.
Meanwhile, talks between the CNE and YASunidos to engage in confidence measures during the process, continues without agreements. The verification process will be monitored by national and international observers like Unasur in order to ensure transparency.
