CNE Will Extend This Friday the Official Results of the Referendum
Posted On 17 May 2011
The National Electoral Council (CNE) decided yesterday to extend 72 hours the scrutiny of votes in Guayas and, therefore, they expect to announce this Friday the final results of the Ecuadorian referendum held on May 7.
At the moment, there are still a 5% of votes to recount. The CNE had to deliver the results on Tuesday, but there has been a delay in the province of Guayas because of computational problems in the ballot papers.
These problems include, that the total number of voters in a polling station does not match with the votes recorded in each question, so it has been necessary to open the ballot boxes to count them again.
