Coffee of Loja Won National Contest
The group of producers called Café El Cairo of Loja, Ecuador, won the first place in the Golden Mug 2011 a local contest performed in Universidad Eloy Alfaro in Manta.
The Institute of Promoting Exportations and Investments (Pro Ecuador by its Spanish acronym) and the National Association of Coffee Exporters (Anecafe by its Spanish acronym) organized the event.
The coffee that came from a farm located in the city of Espindola had a score of 84,85 of the ten finalists among 68 participants. Certified judges from Australia and United States tasted the coffee and made the election last Friday.
Ashley Delgado Flor, president of Anecafe explained that the event is being performed for five years now. Its purpose is to expose the quality of the grain that the country produces. (AV)
