Cold Wave Leaves More Dead in Europe

The arctic-like-cold that assails Europe is accompanied by strong blizzards and powerful winds which have caused the death of 480 people in two weeks. The cold wave has also affected Italy and the Balkan region.
In Poland the number of death people by hypothermia increased to 74, with five more in just 24 hours, added the police. The cold has already claimed 24 people in the Czech Republic, 23 in Lithuania, 10 in Latvia, three in Slovakia and one in Estonia.
On Wednesday morning the temperatures in Moscow dropped by 22 degrees below zero. However in the regions of Iakutie and Eastern Siberia the thermometers indicated 34 degrees negative. Bulgaria is also one of the more affected countries with severe storms and floods in its south. (AV)
