Comptroller establishes gloss of USD 18 million in the Biess
After carrying out the special examination of the contracting, execution and liquidation of group life insurance policies, in Biess, the State Comptroller General’s Office determined civil responsibilities for more than 18 million dollars.

In January 2022, the resolution was signed that provides for the issuance and the beginning of the process of collecting credit titles to former general managers, managers in charge, managers and deputy managers of credit and operations of Biess, who served between 2016 and 2018.
Said officials would not have implemented controls in critical processes for the reduction of risks in credit operations.
El Biess and Seguros Sucre signed the “group life insurance policy”, in force from August 2015 to October 2016, which included, among other aspects, unemployment coverage for members who received mortgage loans, in case to be laid off.
That policy would not have been claimed on time and everything led to the establishment of a gloss of 18,005,721 dollars.
“The gloss corresponds to 3,894 mortgage loans for USD 7,221,929.54 and another 6,760 credit operations, amounting to USD 10,783,792.60; cases in which claims were not filed with the insurer to recover these values in favor of Biess, ”says the statement issued by the State Comptroller General.
According to the statement, the Biess carried out the procedures after the expiration of the policy, that is, the two years indicated in the law were allowed to pass, for which an economic affectation was presented for the amount indicated and that falls as civil liability on the former officials of the entity.
