Controls are carried out at the border due the H1N1 virus
Doctors from the Ministry of Health, together with the immigration staff, carried out preventive check-ups for the H1N1 virus on the northern border. The control was initiated two weeks ago due to the increase of cases in Colombia and Venezuela.
Jose Castillo, epidemiologist of the Public Health Directorate of Carchi, said that there are two control offices; on the Rumichaca bridge, in Carchi, and in the bridge of the San Miguel River, in the province of Sucumbíos.
The doctor added that officials are responsible for detecting if a person who attempts to enter the country presents some of the characteristic symptoms of the virus (flu, fatigue, sniffles, sneezing or vomiting), if it’s positive the person should go to operational units to undergo an exam.
Yesterday, colombian immigrants stated that their border airports continue to carry out vaccine campaigns.
