Correa is the first president to conquer the summit of the North Illiniza Volcano

Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa, performed a feat never before done in the country’s presidential history: ascend the 5,126 meters of the North Illiniza Volcano.
The president, counted with the support of a team of mountaineers to climb the volcano this weekend, over more than five thousand meters above sea level.
“Nothing is impossible if we want to (…) For my country, more and more, to reach even higher and difficult peaks,” said Correa a few minutes after reaching the top of the colossus.
