Correa puts conditions on Yasuni referendum
“Now the biggest “ecologists” are the mercantilist newspapers (…) if we go on a referendum we will also propose only digital newspapers in order to save paper and avoid such indiscriminate felling of trees,” said President Rafael Correa through his Twitter account after the rejection by the print media of his announcement of exploiting the 0.1% of the Yasuni National Park.
Likewise, the president called on citizens to “not be fooled. There are groups that are politicizing the Yasuni-ITT issue to finally ‘beat’ the Government, and especially to manipulate young folk,” he added.
The president’s decision led to rejection on the Twitter social network where reactions from outraged users who doubt the veracity of a referendum on the issue, were observed.

Hundreds of citizens keep protesting against oil extraction from the Yasuni National Park.
