Correa speaks of the Restrepo brothers and September 30

“History repeats,” said President Rafael Correa after attending the launch of the documentary “Con mi corazón en Yambo” (“With my heart in Yambo”).The Ecuadorian President noticed similarities between the investigation on the disappearance of the Restrepo brothers Arismendi and 30-S. He also said that the intentions of the police, prosecutors and the press to leave unpunished cases and even to conceal information is evident.

To prevent history repeating itself, the government ordered to declassify all documents related to the police revolt of September 30 and request the UnitedNations UNASUR and to appoint committees to assist in the investigation to determine whether there was intent assassination.

Correa mentioned that a video of 62 minutes was recorded by the Special Operations Group (GEO) in which there are snipers shooting at soldiers. As well as members of the police with high-powered rifles.

A short 8-minute version of the video summarized by the military is also available, the president said that the recording would be uploaded to the website of the Presidency of the Republic. Access to graphic material has also been released.
