Correa will speak at the Ritz Theater in New Jersey
Posted On 23 Sep 2011
At least 40 supporters of Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa faced Union City Mayor Brian Stack, who denied permission for Ecuadorian diplomatic missions to use the theater of Union City High School for a cultural evening and called President Correa an unwelcome person, which is why Alianza Pais militants and leaders of migrants gathered outside the City Hall to protest.
Linda Machuca, Alianza Pais Assemblywoman for U.S. and Canada, complained that the official has “prioritized” their political interests to the rights of Ecuadorians.
Stack is running for reelection so Machuca stressed that Cubans are potential voters in local elections scheduled for November while the majority of Ecuadorians are undocumented, meaning they can not vote.
Jessica Escala Consul confirmed, finally, that the event would be done today, but in another location: the Ritz Theatre in Elizabeth City, also in New Jersey, at 20:30.
