Cost of corporate phone plans rise

The mobile phone sector has had several changes in this 2016. The rise in consumption taxes and cellular equipment are part of the landscape in the early months of this year. The increase by taxes is 17%.

With the approval of laws Balancing Public Finances and Solidarity and Stewardship by the earthquake, taxes on special consumption (ICE, in Spanish) and value added tax (IVA, in Spanish) hit the price of corporate or business mobile phone plans.

The first rule set a special consumption tax (ICE) of 15% to telephony services and voice plans used by companies or firms. The collection started this month and also applies to plans that include joint packages with voice, data and text messaging.
