Cuba calls for Support to the World Community Against U.S. Embargo
Cuba’s government today asked support to the “international community” against the seizure of half a century that the United States has applied unto them and which has become “the main obstacle” to economic development.
“It is an act of genocide that caused losses of $ 975 billion in this country, a figure that approaches to the real one if one takes into account the decline of the dollar over the past 50 years,” said Deputy Foreign Minister Abelardo Moreno at a press conference.
The United States government at that time demanded internal political, economic and social changes to Cuba as a condition for lifting the measure, which Cuba calls a blockade.
The deputy foreign minister said the UN General Assembly will review the U.S. measure the upcoming October 25 “as it does every year.”
He said Washington “harassment” to international institutions that trade with Cuba. In this context fined in recent months by more than 500 million dollars to three European institutions therefore, between the bank ABN AMRO, the Netherlands.
