Cult leader who burned a baby was found dead in Peru
Ramon Castillo, a Chilean who was leader of a sect that burned in his country a baby of three days old, during a ritual, and was a fugitive in Peru, was found dead yesterday by the police, who found his body hanged in an old house of bricks in the Andean city of Cusco.
“Fingerprints sent by the international police (Interpol) of Chile are match to the ones the Interpol of Peru has of citizen Ramon Castillo Gaete, 35 years old, leader of the Chilean sect,” said Javier Avalos, head of the South East police jurisdiction.
At the end of April of the current year, the Chilean police captured four members of the sect, including the mother of the baby, who allegedly took part, next to Castillo, in the deadly ritual in Colliguay, Valparaíso region, on November 23. The fugitive was also wanted in Ecuador, where he was hiding, allegedly.
Miguel Ampuero, sub-prefect of the Investigation Police of Chile, narrated that the sect murdered the infant to supposedly save the world from a catastrophe that would happen on December 21, since Castillo had persuaded his followers that the child was the Antichrist, and indicated that members of the sect, who were mostly professionals, used ayahuasca in some of their rituals.
