Daule is the rice capital of Ecuador
The Ministry of Agriculture recognized that Canton Daule is the rice capital of Ecuador, confirming the view of the Canton’s municipality, which since August 8, said that “Daule City has been officially recognized as the Rice Capital of Ecuador,” through an ordinance.
The municipality, which had issued the ordinance in October 2012, also stated that November 25 of every year will be recognized as the day of the Daule rice producer and that each entity in the canton will have to insert on their stationery legend: ‘Daule, the Rice Capital of Ecuador ‘.
“The decision was made to promote and encourage the dedication and effort made by Daule farmers for the welfare and development of the economy of our canton and the country, setting up a national identity,” said City Council.
Daule produces 30,000 hectares of rice and each year they use more than a million quintals, which at a cost of $ 10 quintal / day, means a $ 10 million movement every year. Part of the surplus production is usually exported to Colombia.
