Der Spiegel Condemns Ecuador for Assange’s Request

Julian Assange seeks political asylum
The German newspaper Der Spiegel (The Mirror) criticized Ecuador for being a country “that has little or no concern for the human rights.” The article was titled “Ausgerechnet Ecuador” meaning “It had to be Ecuador.”
This observation was made as an answer to the request made by Julian Assange, founder of Wikileaks, who asked for political asylum in the South American country.
Meanwhile Wikileaks sent a strong message to the newspaper that said, “But the newspaper forgets that the United States has detained and tortured Bradley Manning for 758 days,” Manning was responsible for giving Assange government information.
Currently Julian Assange is residing in the Ecuadorian embassy in London since last Tuesday. AV
