During his visit to Madrid, Daniel Noboa had lunch with the King of Spain Felipe VI and received an honor
Earlier, Noboa met with Isabel Díaz Ayuso , president of the Community of Madrid and her advisors, in a meeting where cooperation issues for Ecuadorian migrants in that city were discussed .
After the conversation, Ayuso presented Noboa with the International Medal of the Community of Madrid, the most important distinction granted by the Government of this Spanish region.
“Thank you to the people of Madrid for this recognition. For me it is extremely important, a priority to work with the communities that have treated our migrant brothers well,” said Noboa, who is in Spain on an international trip that took him first to Italy and then to the United States.
He stressed that “it is essential to maintain those ties, have empathy, and understand why many people left the country in search of better lives, settling in other places,” such as Madrid, where the Ecuadorian community is large.
For her part, the Madrid regional president, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, indicated that the awarding of the Medal to Noboa “ serves to recognize his defense of democracy , freedom, and prosperity that is so threatened on the American continent.”
The Madrid president recalled that more than 35,000 Ecuadorians live in the Madrid region , “and that they are another Madrid resident from day one,” and that there are more than 22,000 Madrid residents residing in Ecuador.
“We would like nothing more than for us to see the resurgence of companies, jobs and investment opportunities in Ecuador from all corners of the world in the future,” he said.
After the meeting with Ayuso, Noboa went to a lunch at the Spanish Royal House , invited by King Felipe VI.
The 35-year-old businessman was received by the Spanish monarch on the steps that lead to the gardens of the Zarzuela Palace, as is usually done with heads of state.
With Felipe VI, Noboa exchanged impressions on the state of bilateral relations and other matters of regional interest.
