Ecuador beats Portugal 3-2 as Visitor

This afternoon, the Ecuadorian soccer team had an important victory against Portugal , as a visitor, in the first friendly game of the year.

First Half:

Forty seconds after the game started, in the city of Guimaraes with a full stadium, Ecuadorian team suffered a scare when Cristiano Ronaldo kicked the ball but Ecuadorian goalkeeper, Maximo Banguera rejected it and on the rebound there was a second shot that he also contained.

After two minutes of the match, Manchester United figure Antonio Valencia managed to open the scoring. After a a maneuver played by Jefferson Montero which created a precise center, “Toño” achieved the first goal (0-1).

At minute 22, the star of Real Madrid, Cristiano Ronaldo took a pass and dominated the ball, tricked Antonio Valencia with a right shot that beat Banguera (1-1).

Second Half:

On minute 59 minute Hélder Postiga beat Oscar Bagüi to enable the advantage for the home team, after an effective center of Nani from the left (2-1).

However, two minutes later, Joao Pereira scored an own-goal while trying to clear a ball that  Felipe Caicedo had kicked, who indubitably became the figure of the match (2-2).

At minute 69,  Caicedo was able to score the third goal for Ecuador, sentencing the match, after an assist from teammate Christian Benitez (2-3).

The meeting ended with a dangerous action at minute 90 (+3) which left Christian Benitez alone in front of the goal to get the fourth score, but his shot sent the ball around the post.

Ecuador is ready to face Paraguay in March for the qualifying  for Brazil 2014. Meanwhile, the Lusitanian prepares its match against Israel, also for qualifying.
