Ecuadornews:
Ecuador does not rule out seeking a trade agreement with China with similar characteristics as that signed with the European Union (EU) to offset the trade balance between the two countries, Ecuadorian Foreign Trade Minister Pablo Campana said Wednesday.
In China, “there is an openness” for both partners to negotiate, Campana stated in an interview with Efe in Beijing, where he is seeking investments, and noted that Quito “could” try to reach a similar agreement to that signed with the European Union.
At the moment, in light of Ecuador’s negative balance with China (estimated at 27,000 million dollars, according to data from the Ecuadorian ministry), both countries have set up special commissions to evaluate an exchange of goods with zero tariffs. (I)
