Ecuador grades as “an unacceptable interference” the decree from the US President regarding Venezuela
The Ecuadorian Government expressed his “firmed rejection” to the decision made by the US President, Barack Obama, of extending for one year the executive order that declares Venezuela as “an extraordinary and unusual threat to the national security and exterior politics of the United States”.
Through a press release issued by the Foreign Ministry, it stated that the decision, originally adopted in 2015, “constitutes as an unacceptable interference towards the sovereign country and creates a serious risk to peace and democracy in the region.”
The Ministry also mentions that the adopted sanctions imply “an unjust and unacceptable political pressure which violate the principles of non-interference and equality of States enshrined in the UN Charter.” (I)
