Ecuador is part of the Board of Auditors of the OAS
Carlos Polit, the General Comptroller of Ecuador, was chosen as a member of the Board of External Auditors of the Organization of American States (OAS), for the period 2013-2015.
Representatives of the United States, James L. Millete and Canada, Joseph Freamo also compose the Board. The three will meet in Washington (United States) between 15 and 19 of the month, with the objective of evaluating the results of external audits conducted by the international firm Ernst & Young to the Financial Statements of the OAS, for the year 2012.
The main topics to be analyzed are related to the movements in the financial accounts of the OAS, its affiliates and related entities, in the previous year. After this work, the Board must report its findings to the Permanent Council of the OAS and submit their comments to the Council, the Secretary General and the Inspector General Office.
This information will be presented in the 43rd General Assembly of the entity, which will be held in La Antigua (Guatemala), from 4 to 6 June of this year.
