Ecuador opens bid for purchase of border radars

Ecuador opened an international bid to acquire a radar system of border surveillance and against the drug trafficking, said on October 7 the Defence Minister, Fernando Cordero, who anticipated an investment of $ 112 million in this purchase.
In late July, the Minister, who occupied the portfolio of Security, reported that Spain, France and Italy were invited to participate in the bid.
Ecuador resumed the purchase of radars after unsuccessful negotiations with China to acquire four of these devices for $ 60 million.
Chinese detection equipment was not compatible with the Ecuadorian military planes and according to the Government, the State recovered $ 36 million that weregiven in advance.
