Ecuador renews preferential tariffs with the EU
Countries such as Bolivia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Peru, and Paraguay were benefited from the renewal of the tariff preferences from the European Union.
According to reports, the European Union (EU,) published on January 4 in its official journal the news that Ecuador is one of the countries that will benefit from the Generalized System of Tariff Preferences until December 31, 2014.
The Ministry of Foreign Trade announced by a press release that the country will continue to enjoy preferential tariffs thanks to “the result of thorough work carried out to demonstrate that the country was eligible and it met all international conventions on human and labor rights, environmental protection and good governance. ”
In the framework to maintain good relations and achieve long-term agreements with the European Union, it is estimated that during the week between the 13 and 17 of January of the current year takes place the First Round of Negotiations of the Multiparty Agreement between Ecuador and the EU in Brussels.
