Ecuador seeks a larger use of Sucre

Jeanette Sanchez
Jeanette Sanchez, Coordinating Minister for Economic Policy, called on member countries of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA) to better coordinate the use of the Regional Clearance Unitary System (Sucre).
The request was made yesterday during the VIII Economic Complementation Council ALBA Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP), held in Guayaquil.
“We need a better coordination between the participating countries of the system to simplify procedures and reduce transaction costs,” said Sanchez.
Minister Sanchez said she will review a map made with the products that each country offers, thus promoting the creation of “big public national companies.” The study also indicated that a report on the status of the ALBA Bank capitalization would be carried out to “define actions.”
