Ecuador supports Evo Morales unconditionally
Yesterday at the Carondelet Palace, after a series of honorary events to receive, with a red carpet, the president of Bolivia, Evo Morales, the president of Ecuador, Rafael Correa, welcomed him with joy during the first bilateral meeting of his Bolivian counterpart to our country, which was intended to strengthen relations between the two nations.
Correa received his counterpart at the Palace, to review bilateral agreements and to discuss what happened on July 2 when European countries denied their airspace for Morales’ plain to fly above them.
The incident on the plane of the Bolivian president served as a reason to strengthen both presidents’ idea of regional integration, strengthening organizations such as the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of America (ALBA), the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR) and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC).
Despite the severity of the event, Evo Morales today accepted the apology made by France, Spain, Italy and Portugal for the incident and added that he holds “no bad feelings” for what happened.
