Ecuador Will Finish 2010 with a $1,200 Million Deficit
Posted On 29 Dec 2010
Today, the Coordinating Minister of Production, Mauricio Peña, said Ecuador will close the 2010 with a trade deficit of about 1,200 million dollars in contrast to the 350 million dollars deficit in 2009.
According to the minister is “indispensable” for Ecuador to take tariff measures to reduce imports on items that could be replaced by domestic production.
Peña recalled that in 2009 the Government had a “very restrictive” policy and in 2010 adopted a number of tariff measures, such as increasing tariffs to footwear, textiles, and vehicle imports .
