Ecuadorian Assembly Calls to Account the ‘Narcovalija’
The diplomatic suitcase seized yesterday by Italian authorities for carrying liquid cocaine has become a controversial event. Now the Ecuadorian State Attorney received a request of Enrique Herreria, assemblymen of Madera de Guerrero political party, to clarify the case about the drug suitcase.
The Italian newspaper La Republica reported the drug suitcase event, after showing several pictures of 40 kilos of cocaine inside 80 jars that were discovered in a diplomatic suitcase that the Ecuadorian Foreign Ministry sent to the General Consulate of Milan, Italy.
Herreria is asking for an explanation as to why Pierina Correa, the Ecuadorian president’s sister, and Pedro Delgado, Chairman of the Central Bank Board and cousing of the president, appeared in a meeting in Milan along with the owner of the suitcase Jorge Luis Redroban.
The Italian police apprehended Redroban in a restaurant after discovering that the suitcase was for him. Now the officers continues to investigate one of the main suspects since June 2011 after a supposedly drug network that worked in Quito and Milan was discovered. (AV)
