Ecuadorian embassies will close in several countries
Over the lack of reciprocity, by having no diplomatic representation in Ecuador, the National Government has decided to withdraw its offices in Belgium, Portugal, Holland, Sweden, Austria, South Africa, Poland, Australia, Singapore, Hungary and Malaysia.
The announcement made by the President of the Republic, Rafael Correa, was justified in several of those countries having no embassy in Quito, or had and closed them.
The president argued that over strategic necessity, some embassies will remain, even if their countries do not have office in Ecuador, as in the case of India. It is a reengineering process of the Foreign Service that includes modifications and also improvements on the consulates as well as upgrades in the care electronic system, he announced.
