Ecuadorian flowers and fruits stand out in Russian fairs

Producers of flowers and fruits of Ecuador reached business expectations for about $ 3 million after their participation in the international exhibitions Flower Expo and World Food Moscow, which took place in the Russian capital, reported the Institute of Promotion of Exports and Investments (Pro Ecuador).

Around 420 companies from 30 countries and more than 5,000 professionals participated in the two events that concentrated the largest producers of cut flowers, seed companies, nurseries, operators, garden equipment and suppliers of the flower market.

Edgar Narváez, director of the commercial office of Pro Ecuador in Moscow, highlighted the importance for Ecuador of the increase in the exportable supply of new products. “We are strong in the banana market, although we seek to strengthen our position in the market of exotic fruits such as pitahaya and uvilla,” the official said.

Valeria Lobato, representative of the Ecuadorian company Florpaxi, said that having participated in Flower Expo Moscow opens new doors for the growth of her firm.

The businesswoman also highlighted the support of the authorities to participate in this fair. The financial manager of Earth Fuctífera, Sebastián Patiño, indicated that this type of event allows creating opportunities in new countries and getting commercial partners. (I)
