Ecuadorian Shrimp farmers meet in Guayaquil at the Aqua Expo 2019
From October 21 to 24, 2019, the Aqua Expo 2019, the world aquaculture congress that gathers larvicicultures, producers and exporters of the continent, is held at the Convention Center of Guayaquil. There are about 200 companies participating in the business fair, where they present their latest technology products, goods and services in an area of 6,500 m2.
The conference program has the participation of 35 international experts and five national speakers. The topics to be addressed are: crop production and management, shrimp sustainability, nutrition and feeding strategies, genetic improvement, shrimp health management in crop systems, new technologies applied to industry and the market situation.
At the opening of the event were the Minister of Environment, Raul Ledesma and the Deputy Minister of Aquaculture and Fisheries, Roberto Viteri.
The President of the Republic sent a letter in which he stressed the importance of the shrimp industry, which represents the first non-oil export item with a growth of 19% this year.
Moreno announced the possibility of abolishing the Value Added Tax for the shrimp producer. For his part, José Antonio Camposano, executive president of the National Chamber of Aquaculture, indicated that it is a correct decision for the benefit of the sector.
He stressed that this is the most important trade fair in the sector. The shrimp sector generates more than 261,000 direct and indirect jobs and a great impact on the Ecuadorian economy.
