Ecuador’s 14 provinces are still counting votes

With slow progress the review of the national scrutiny continues, after  eight days of the election process. So far only 10 provinces have completed the counting of votes of all dignities ( presidential, national assembly, provincial and Andean Parliament).

The 14 provinces that are still counting the ballots for  presidente and vice-president, national and provincial assembly members are:Esmeraldas, Santo Domingo de los Tsachilas, Manabi, Guayas, Los Rios, ElOro, Morona Santiago, Pichincha, Sucumbios, Orellana,Pastaza and Cotopaxi.

In the province of Guayas, computed ballots for president reached 80.86%, of National Assembly members 79.40%, and provincial, 81.41%. ForFabricio Rivas, CEO of Alianza PAIS, the counting of votes has been “a little slow, but transparent. The slowness is due to the implementation of the new system and delays in the intermediate joints because of the reloads, for this the system has collapsed several times.”

However, when asked about the total votes in Guayas, the president of the Electoral Board,Mayra Gallegos, declined to talk to the media, the only thing she said was that in the upcoming days there will be a report of the progress of the count process.

The website of the National Electoral Council said that of the provinces of the Coast region only Santa Elena has completed the process, in the Highlands, Loja, Azuay,Canar, Chimborazo, Imbabura, Carchi, in the amazon, Napo and Zamora, andGalapagos island has completed its verification too.
