Egyptian Prosecutors Request Death Penalty for Mubarak
Today the Egyptian prosecution called for the death penalty by hanging for the former president Hosni Mubarak. This sentence is being sought due to the deaths of several demonstrators during the Egyptian insurrection of 2011.
According to Ashraf Atwa, one of the attorneys of the process, the Public Ministry made the request; it also includes the former Interior Minister Habib al Adli and six of his assistants. During the trial it was confirmed the direct responsibility of Mubarak and al Adli in the death of several demonstrators during the incidents in the revolution of January 25, 2011.
The district general, Mustafa Suleiman, denounced the former dictator saying that he did not used his prerogatives and followed the decision of al Adli to suppress the demonstrations. The next trial session will be held on January 9 and 10. (AV)
