Emilio Palacio went to Miami

In a letter published this morning by the former columnist of El Universo newspaper, Emilio Palacio, announced that he is in Miami since last Wednesday because of the threats and persecution that he is facing for a penal trial due to an article he wrote about the police insurrection of September 30 (30-S).

Palacio is facing charges for accusing the Ecuadorian president Rafael Correa, this quarrel also includes the directors of newspaper El Universo, the Perez brothers. On his letter he states that he decided to refugee in the States due to a court threat of Correa’s attorney, Galo Chiriboga, who was forcing him to reveal the name of the police officer that gave him a video and a testimony on the events occured on 30-S.
