In addition to Esmeraldas, parishes in seven provinces of the country had to return to the polls after the elections were suspended in February 23, by disturbances and errors on ballots. On this occasion, thanks to security operation any problem was recorded.
In the enclosure of the Eduardo Granja school, at the Centre of the canton Pedro Carbo (Northwest of Guayaquil), 13 500 voters chose only Urban Councillors, guarded by six tanks of the armed forces.
Yaguachi, which also belong to the Guayas Province, had police presence. Here, 15 600 registered people chose again Urban Councillors. In La Esperanza parish, in the South of the capital of Imbabura, 6 416 people had to appoint five members of the Vestry.
The Ponce Enriquez canton, located three hours from Cuenca, is the only place in the country where the electronic voting was used to choose the Mayor, four Councillors for the urban sector, one for the rural sector and the Prefect. But these results will not change the last February 23 outcimes, where Paul Carrasco was elected Prefect of the province of Azuay.
