Employment suffers from the contraction of the economy
The information that companies in the country have reduced their sales has circulated through social networks, along with the negative impact on their workforce.
Daily Expreso inquired Roberto Aspiazu, executive director of the Ecuadorian Business Committee (EC), who attended yesterday along with other leaders of the productive sector to the election of the new leadership of the guild, about the issue.
The leader said they were aware of the information, but they are verifying it. He warned that in this way a negative expectation that does not correspond to reality is created and therefore they see it with reservations.
However, he acknowledged they cannot deceive themselves and concluded: “In the current economic scenario jobs are being lost.”
“A 30% of companies had lowered their number of employees, but only a 15% had been drastically reduced,” he said.
This is the result of the survey made to 80 companies, 20 productive sectors of the country; but an updated picture of the situation is required.
